Lesson 2
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” -Earl Nightingale
Welcome to NUTRITION LESSON 2!
We are so glad last week didn’t scare you off. Today we’re digging a little deeper into last week’s focus on processed foods.
This week we’re talking about empty calories and sugar!
Are empty calories harmful? Well actually yes.
Depending on the degree that they are consumed It can be extremely detrimental to our health. Empty calories can leave us in a calorie surplus, malnourished and at a higher risk of disease. This isn’t meant to scare you, however, bringing awareness to your weaknesses will help you combat these issues! Implementing these small habits to reduce your overall empty calorie and sugar intake will improve your energy levels, appetite stabilization, blood pressure and disease prevention.
Things To Remember
Fill out your daily check-in form each day, as well as the weekly recap each Saturday before noon!
Each lesson topic will have a daily or weekly challenge (sometimes both!). You don’t have to master these all at once.
Remember our goal with these challenges is to have you integrating these habits into your daily and weekly routines.
Try your best but be honest about whether you’ve completed the challenges or not- this is only hindering your own success because we will not be able to offer you additional help and resources!
Challenges to Turn Into Habits
empty calorie Challenge
DAILY: Digging deeper than last week. Reflect on one food or beverage choice you make daily that doesn’t serve your body. Something that's robbing your body of the nutrients you deserve! Make a list and narrow it down to one empty calorie food that you’re going to swap or eliminate in your diet this week! Get as specific as possible.
FOR EXAMPLE: If you eat strawberry yogurt every morning for breakfast, you could try swapping this for plain yogurt sweetened naturally with blueberries and banana. Another example is swapping your afternoon frappe for a regular unsweetened iced coffee, eliminating pop or juice completely, etc.
Tell me in your daily check in.
